22: Meet Thanh Rasico

A girl who likes to eat good food, talk about it, cook it and even photograph it, is a gal after my own heart. Food lover and blogger Thanh Rasico steers our taste buds around town with the greatest of ease.

1. Name, occupation, years in LR, neighborhood: Thanh Rasico; Account Executive at Arkansas Times and food obsessor/blogger at RedKitchenRecipes.com; 21 years in LR; West Little Rock, Chenal area.

2. Finish this sentence: My job is awesome because... the Arkansas Times office is a fun place to get to go to everyday. I'm surrounded by some of the smartest and most creative people--from the editorial staff to the graphic artists to my department, the sales team. There is no shortage of wit in our end of the River Market. I've got people like Max Brantley to look to for help with things like replying to a crazy tweet from a political strategist/businessman regarding the Farm Bill. Needless to say, it took him 2 seconds.  This year is our 40th anniversary, and our publisher Alan has covered a lot of news in that time.

My other non-paying job as a food blogger has really helped me connect with other food lovers in the food community of Little Rock.  I've had the opportunity to join food bloggers at tasting events at places such as Argenta Market, restaurant openings such as Chuy's and Little Greek, as well as food judging at Jumbo Gumbo last year.  When you put your passion out there, Little Rock responds.

3. If you ate a different meal at a different local restaurant for a day, what would they be?  I would start my morning at Boulevard Bread Company in the River Market as I do many mornings for my caramel latte.  I would indulge and have their breakfast sandwich with pancetta, fried egg and aioli.  For lunch, I would eat the fish tacos from The Afterthought. They're super crunchy and they come topped with pineapple salsa and served with crispy fries. Then for dinner, I would wind down at Table 28. This new WLR restaurant rolls out the red carpet for your comfort and personal taste. The Surf 'n Turf of Scallops and Oxtail are superb. I love to order the smaller tasting plates and experience a little bit of everything. I also love their sea bass.

 4. Where do you make sure to take out-of-town guests when they visit?  In West Little Rock, I love shopping and lunching at the Promenade at Chenal or Pleasant Ridge Town Center.  I also love taking people to the River Market District.  If there's a Farmers Market anywhere, we would go there. We love taking people to see  the Clinton Library because my husband did a lot of work there.  If our guests have kids, then the Museum of Discovery is a must. Pinnacle Mountain is also a great place for a picnic.

5. Finish this sentence: My perfect evening in Little Rock involves...spending time with friends and family-- Sharing stories, laughing, eating good food and having a good glass of wine.
